St. Joseph’s Cathedral

St. Joseph’s Cathedral (Sokoine Drive, Dar Es Salaam) — this is a Roman Catholic cathedral in downtown Dar es Salaam. Built in Gothic architectural style by the Germans between 1897 and 1902, it faces the harbor (close to the White Fathers House). St. Joseph’s was consecrated as a Catholic church in 1905. Pope John Paul II visited this church when he was in Tanzania in 1990. It currently conducts mass in English and Swahili.
